Streets Division
1250 St. Vladimir St
Glendora, California 91741
(626) 852-4817

The Streets Division performs, or oversees, such services as street sweeping, asphalt and concrete repairs, traffic signs and striping, and storm drain maintenance.

It is the mission of the Streets Division to provide the highest quality street maintenance services to the citizens of Glendora. Our scope of work includes the following; weekly street sweeping, , monthly alley and public parking lot sweeping, sign maintenance, striping and legend application to streets, curb address application, curb painting, graffiti abatement response, sidewalk maintenance, curb and gutter maintenance, transfer drain maintenance, and asphalt repair (potholes, patching, utility cut repairs).

Alley Sweeping

Sweeping of the City's 9 miles of alley takes place once a month. Unlike street sweeping, alley sweeping is done during the day time hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Due to the narrow width, lack of curb face, and tight turning radius in the alleys, the City uses a contractor with a smaller and specialized machine for this purpose.

Curb Gutter Sidewalk

The City of Glendora's concrete crew repairs and replaces damaged curb, gutter, and sidewalk. On the average year, we replace approximately 25,000 square feet of damaged sidewalk. If you have a sidewalk, curb, or gutter work request, please contact us using one of the two (2) methods listed below:

Graffiti Removal

Starting September 1, 2014, Athens Services will undertake this very important service. While Glendora has a relatively low number of incidents of graffiti throughout the year, it is critical for us to remove this unsightly markings as quickly as possible. Graffiti left unabated can be a significant factor to neighborhoods becoming eyesores and more inviting to crime.

Graffiti removal was previously performed by the maintenance staff from the city's Public Works Department. With Athens Services providing this service it will allow us to redirect personnel to pressing needs in street and other public right-a-way maintenance needs.

Athens Services is required to remove 90% of graffiti that is reported to our designated reporting phone numbers or email addresses within 24-hours. They need to remove 100% within 48-hours. Athens Services is required to photograph each graffiti incident and forward that information to the Glendora Police Department. A special team of officers uses that information to try to track down the perpetrators and keep track of possible gang activity.

About 60% of the graffiti occurs on public property, so Athens can move fairly rapidly to remove through power-washing it off or using matching paint to cover it. A high number of incidents however occur on private property like property walls, fences or other structures. So Athens Services needs to obtain written permission from the property owner to come onto the property to remove the graffiti. While this usually does not take more than a day or two, there can be times when the owner may be out of town or unreachable for a period of time.

To report graffiti, email cleanglendora@athensservices.com.

Signage

The City of Glendora has over 15,000 signs posted within its city boundaries. The type of signs are numerous and diverse ranging from street name signs, regulatory signs (stop signs, speed limit signs, one way, etc.), warning signs (curve ahead, narrow bridge, railroad crossing, etc.), guide signs (Hospital, etc.), and special signs. We are currently in the process of developing a comprehensive sign management program that will track each sign in the City. This will enable us to proactively manage sign replacement and repair based on such factors as anticipated sign life, sign reflectivity, color resolution, and sign condition.

If you notice any signs in need of repair or replacement, please contact us with any one of the (3) methods listed below. Please state the specific sign verbiage, the closest address to the sign, and the type of damage. Also leave us your name and phone number so we can contact you.

Striping Legends

The Streets Division has a proactive street marking program. In most areas, we use a durable pavement marking application (such as raised pavement markers in lieu of paint striping, thermoplastic stop bars and legends in lieu of painted surfaces). The use of these methods means that we spend less money on paint which must be renewed annually, and help the environment in the process. When feasible we replace painted markings with durable markings.
