Yellow Ribbon Banner Program
The Yellow Ribbon Banner Committee was started by a group of resident volunteers back in 2008. The goal was to recognize and thank local service members by hanging banners throughout the main parts of the City of Glendora for everyone to see. Each banner had the service member's name on it, along with which branch of the military they are currently serving in. Once the service member was discharged from the military, their banner was presented to them and their family at one of the Community Recognition Awards that are held four times per year.
Community Services Foundation
The Yellow Ribbon Banner Committee has been absorbed into the Community Services Foundation. The Glendora Community Services Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization that partners with the City of Glendora to aide, sponsor, promote, advance and assist in the provisions, development and maintenance of public parks, recreation and community services and provide financial support to enhance the services of the City of Glendora.
We are honored to take over the Yellow Ribbon Banner Committee and honor the service men and women from Glendora.
How It Works
To apply for a banner and/or yard sign, please complete the Yellow Ribbon Banner Program Application(PDF, 554KB) and submit it one of three ways:
- Email: CSFoundation@CityofGlendora.org
- Mail: Community Services Department, c/o Project Yellow Ribbon, 116 E Foothill Blvd., Glendora 91741
- In Person: Community Services Department, 116 E Foothill Blvd., Glendora 91741
Banners will be hung on a quarterly basis. Families will be notified when their service member's banner is hung.
Once your application is submitted, members will review and place the banner order. Once the banner is printed, we will schedule it to be hung up on a light pole within the City. You may request a general area for where you would like the banner to be hung, but we cannot guarantee that it will be placed where you have requested. Once the banner is hung, the service member's name will be added to the interactive map (below) and the banner's location. If you order a yard sign, you will be contacted when it arrives and can be picked up from Community Services at City Hall, 116 E Foothill Blvd.
