People Movement Project

The People Movement Project envisions a viable active transportation network spanning over 10 miles of bicycle and pedestrian facilities throughout the City. It is our goal to provide efficient and safe transportation options for families, commuters, and people of all abilities to access recreation, services, and other major destinations within Glendora.

The People Movement Project contains two components: completion of the Urban Trail System and First/Last Mile Improvements. The Urban Trail System component is construction of roughly eight miles of Class I bicycle and pedestrian facilities along the flood control channels. These projects would provide direct access to numerous cultural, educational, and recreational facilities and locations as well as further linking Glendora with our neighboring communities.

The First/Last Mile improvements are strategic improvements aimed at making access to the new Metro L (Gold) Line station intuitive and safe. Key elements include the City's first protected bicycle lanes, curb extensions, and a protected (aka "Dutch") intersection, which would be the first of its kind in Los Angeles County. First/last mile is essential to the long-term economic development and environmental goals by encouraging residents and visitors to come to Glendora on the future rail project and walk or bike around town.

Fleet Modernization and Electrification

GreenPower EV250 BusIn an effort to modernize the City's transportation fleet and program, City of Glendora has implemented a new transit dispatching software by TripSpark. This new software enables the City to deliver accessible, flexible, and user friendly transportation services to our community. Customers will now be able to access Dial-A-Ride services more efficiently through your mobile device.

In addition, we have recently purchased two brand new all-electric buses. As part of the Innovative Clean Transit Regulation (ICT), adopted in December 2018, all public transit agencies must gradually transition to a 100 percent zero emission bus (ZEB) fleet. The GreenPower EV250 electric bus vehicle has a twenty-six passenger capacity and range of up to 163 miles per charge. The City is also working with Southern California Edison to install EV chargers at the Parks Yard for the new buses.

The City was awarded Clean Transportation Funding from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) whose mission is to fund projects that reduce air pollution. This grant helped assist in the purchase of one of the electric buses.

First/Last Mile Plan

The City of Glendora is part of LA Metro's First/Last Mile Plan! The Plan is an approach for identifying barriers and planning and implementing improvements for the first/last mile portions of an individual's journey. Working with LA Metro, we are looking to expand the transit experience, improve safety, and enhance visual aesthetics.

Village Plaza Improvements

In 2022, staff engaged with residents and stakeholders to develop improvement concepts in the Glendora Village for Meda Avenue and the Bus Plaza. PlaceWorks, Inc. developed concept plans based on this feedback, which were vetted by stakeholders adjacent to the project area as well as the Business Improvement District Board of Directors, Community Services Commission, and the Planning Commission. Construction began in early 2023 and was completed later that summer.
